Origin
Birchmoss keeps a small ledger of guessed prices hidden beneath a loose root, and never shows it to anyone. Being alone frightens Birchmoss, so Birchmoss sits close to the cellar door, hoping a visitor will come and ask about the ledger. Birchmoss dreams of trading secrets for a fortune and becoming rich enough to stop whispering.
